About the Opportunity
The only tertiary hospital that specialises in Psychiatry with more than 2000 beds providing broad-based medical care to the community, is seeking an experienced Psychiatrist specialising in Adult Neurodevelopmental Service (ANDS). ANDS is a specialised clinical service that provides assessment and treatment for adults (typically aged 19–64) with neurodevelopmental disorders such as Intellectual Disability (ID)and/or Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
The campus will have a comprehensive medical service which consists of acute care, community hospitals, specialist outpatient clinics, intermediate and long-term care facilities. It is an open and welcoming hospital, with various activities organized within the Campus and green spaces to encourage staff and patients to engage in an active lifestyle.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide holistic, patient-centred care across both inpatient and outpatient settings
- Lead multidisciplinary healthcare teams and collaborate closely with colleagues to deliver high-quality care
- Participate in intra- and interdepartmental projects and committees
- Teach and mentor undergraduate and postgraduate students, as well as other healthcare professionals
- Undertake additional duties as assigned by the Head of Department
- Be responsible for the following key areas:
Clinical Assessment, Outpatient, Inpatient and Community Psychiatry Services
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric and neurodevelopmental assessments tailored to ID/ASD populations including any co-occurring mental health conditions such as mood, anxiety and psychotic disorders etc
- Formulate diagnoses and profiling with consideration of cognitive, behavioural, neurodevelopmental, psychiatric, and medical factors, as well as relevant genetic or family history
- Perform structured risk assessments (e.g., thoughts of or deliberate self‐harm, aggression, exploitation, vulnerability)
- Evaluate adaptive functioning and psychosocial support needs, including any precipitating and protective factors
- Provide psychiatric care across multiple care settings within the institution:
o Specialist outpatient clinics
o Inpatient wards
o Community based programmes - Ensure continuity of care through transitions between inpatient, outpatient, and community services including referrals
- Adhere to clinical governance standards, safety protocols, and ethical guidelines
Treatment & Intervention
- Develop evidence-based neurodevelopmentally -informed treatment plans, incorporating:
o Psychotropic medication
o Behavioural interventions
o Environmental and caregiver strategies
o Modified psychosocial therapies - Manage behavioural crises including provision of acute crisis plan and acute psychiatric presentations in adults with ID/ASD
- Provide long term-term psychiatric management for complex cases
Multidisciplinary & Integrated Care
- Work closely with psychologists, behavioural therapists, nurses, case managers, medical officers, occupational therapists, and social workers
- Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions, joint reviews, and care planning
- Coordinate care with community partners, residential homes, agency of Integrated Care (AIC) supported services, and voluntary welfare organisations
Education & Training
- Supervise, mentor and teach fellows, residents and medical students as part of the strong academic ecosystem
- Contribute to Continuing Medical Education (CME) and the professional development of allied health and nursing teams.
Leadership & Service Development
- Participate in or lead clinical research, service innovation, and quality
- improvement initiatives within the cluster’s psychiatry departments
- Support development of new clinical models, community outreach programmes, and mental health promotion strategies
Requirements
- Basic medical qualification (e.g., MBBS or equivalent)
- Recognised postgraduate Specialist training with Qualification, such as: MMed (Singapore), CCT (UK), Fellowship from Australia or New Zealand, FRCPC (Canada) or Fellowship of the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine (FHKAM), American Board Certification
- Eligibility for registration as a Specialist with the Singapore Medical Council (SMC) and Specialist Accreditation Board (SAB)

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced setting
- Strong command of spoken and written English

- 2-year renewable contract
- Annual salary range: SGD $240,000 – SGD $350,000 (depending on specialty and years of experience)
